Summertime Snapshots

Summertime is in full swing now + I’m thrilled. Summer is my absolute favorite season, despite the heat and humidity here in Florida. The feeling of the sun on my skin, beach days, summer trips, watermelon and fresh fruit…it’s just the best, isn’t it?

As we’re gearing up for the exciting things this season, I thought I’d round up some snapshots from our spring. Quite a bit happened this spring, Eric and I both had birthdays, my family hatched some (adorable and cuddly) chicks, my little sis GRADUATED, and we had some fun weekends too!

One of our goals for this spring was to go to the beach every single weekend. I guess you could say we seriously craved it over the winter, haha. We definitely didn’t end up going every single weekend, but we probably made it there 7-8 times, which I count as a success!

The water wasn’t really warm enough to go swimming/surfing till the end of April and May. But, that didn’t stop us from hauling our beach blanket and snacks to still enjoy the warm sun and sand. We definitely got our fair share of sunburns too, haha!

This spring my family hatched 3 little chicks, and they were the sweetest things. My mom acquired an incubator in which you have to rotate the eggs three times a day for 21 days. Once the chicks were several weeks old, they gave them to a friend of my dad who raises chickens!

Their names are Bob, Twinkie, and Minnie. It was hilarious watching them interact with each other, and see how each one had their own little personality.

Right around Easter were Eric and my birthdays. We celebrated Eric’s birthday one evening at the Fort Wilderness Campground at Disney. They’ve got a restaurant there that Eric is pretty obsessed with. The next evening we celebrated again with his family with a cook-out!

My birthday actually landed on Easter Sunday, which was super special because we got to celebrate both occasions with my family and aunt and uncle. We hung out, played games, and ate great food!

As we get older + older, we’re kind of moving away from the typical big birthday parties. Spending time with our loved ones and close friends just seems like the perfect way to celebrate another year around the sun.

Towards the end of spring my little sister, Lorianne, graduated UCF with her degree in Chemistry! She worked so, so hard during her college career. This fall she’s headed back to UCF to pursue her PhD in Chemisty!

My older sister, Cassie, is returning to graduate school as well to pursue a Masters degree in Social Work, and my little brother, Roger, is finishing up his sophomore year of high school. Umm, why does time move so fast?  Goodness, these guys are killing it; I’m so proud of them.

Also, can I just say, congratulations to my parents for having three of thier children graduate college so far?! They both have sacrificed greatly for our education, always challenged us to stretch ourselves, and supported us through it all. They’re the real deal, folks.

Well, that’s a wrap on our spring. It was pretty great, and I have a feeling our summer is going to be even better. 🙂
