Roadtrip

Lorianne and I recently returned from our 10 day road trip through the Southwest, and goodness it was a trip to remember! It was so fun traveling around with Lori; hiking, camping, and making spontaneous stops along the way.

We first flew into Las Vegas where we picked up a rental car. Southwest offers a non-stop flight to Las Vegas from Orlando, and we landed before lunchtime!

Of course, our first stop was In-n-Out (duh) just outside of the city. From there we headed up to Zion National Park, stopping for some groceries on the way.

In-n-out

Somehow we were able to land a campsite in the park for 3 nights, which ended up being perfect! It was just a short walk to the visitor center!

Lori and I hiked Angel’s Landing, Observation Point, and the Pa’rus trails. We cooked most of our food those days at the campsite, but splurged on ice cream at the lodge on two afternoons. 🙂

Following Zion, Lori and I headed to Page, Arizona where we rented a couple paddle boards to tour Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon. It was so beautiful, breathtaking at times, paddle boarding through the slot canyon.

After this, Lori and I got our camping gear and strapped it to the board to paddle to Antelope Island in the middle of Lake Powell. It was a bit of an ordeal getting the gear all in dry bags and over to the island, but once it was set up we could take a breath and enjoy views!

The happenings of that night on the island are a story for another day, and I’ll leave it at that.

Finally, we started making our way over to the north rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. We stayed at this lovely inn, Jacob Lake Inn, the night before the rim to rim hike as we prepared our food and packs for the trek. That was a fun day. 🙂

Lori and I hiked from rim to rim, 26.5 miles, in two days! It was an exhausting, exciting, painful, and peaceful hike; one I’ll never forget!

After the hike, Lori and I spent a couple days at the south rim of the Grand Canyon hanging out and enjoying the views before taking the Trans-Canyon shuttle back to our car on the north rim.

Then we started the long (very long) drive back to towards Las Vegas, stopping the night in St. George. We flew back to Orlando on Southwest, but not without one more meal at In-n-Out!

It was a great trip, Lori! I love you. 🙂
